I am Bassel Hajj, a pianist, composer and music producer based in Lebanon. I have experience in exploring various musical genres and crafting compositions that resonate across diverse styles. From electronic and ambient to jazz, classical, and oriental, I find joy in composing and performing music that spans a wide spectrum. Navigating between these genres reflects both my deep appreciation for diverse musical expressions and my dedication to continually evolving as an artist. It's an absolute pleasure to share my diverse melodic experiences and connect with audiences through music.

I was born in 1987 in Lebanon, where I grew up in a family that, despite not being directly involved in music, has a strong appreciation for it and for many of the best artists in the arab world and for the iconic figures of the worldwide musical scene. Parents consistently attending concerts of the best tarab singers in Beirut, brothers and sisters discovering the latest of the pop musical scene or the Hard rock one, or eventually the jazz scene.

I went to the American University of Beirut where I studied Mathematics and graduated with high distinction. During those years, I regularly played at the Bar Louie music club with a local band that played my compositions, and together with this band, we had our first show at la Fête de la Musique in Beirut with over 2000 attendees. After receiving a scholarship from the European commission, I flew to Bordeaux and Leiden to complete my masters in Mathematics. Besides the very demanding yet fulfilling studies, these two years were filled with exploration of European cities, and especially musical venues and jazz festivals.

After receiving my Masters' degree, I moved to Paris to study jazz composition and arrangement at the American School Of Modern Music, then classical piano performace at l'École normale de musique de Paris. During these years, I performed at the Sunset Sunside, the Jazz Act, La médiathèque des Halles, le théatre antique de Sète, among other venues.

Actually back in my home country, I work primarly in Mathematics and in music composition and production. I recently released two albums: “Timeless”, and electronic music production and “Storyteller”, a solo piano album. My most recent release, Transition, is a fully improvised solo piano album featuring eight tracks that explore a wide emotional spectrum. The album has been gaining strong momentum in both the French and international press, with distinguished features in Paris Move, Boulimique de Musique, and Jazz Nicknames. It has also led to interviews on Radio Reims, Radio Jazz Box International, and RMC Doualiya, along with notable airplay across several programs on France Musique.
