The Jazz Trio

I have been fortunate to have two unique experiences recording my compositions in a Jazz trio style. The first took place in 2013 in Los Angeles, where I had the privilege of collaborating with John B. Williams on the acoustic bass and the late Ralph Penland on the drums. The resulting record “FREEZE” leaned towards the classic jazz trio sound, while still incorporating modern elements in the compositions.

The second experience occurred in 2016 in New York. This time, I had the pleasure of working with Javier Moreno on the acoustic bass and Ron Thaler on the drums. The resulting recording “WELLSPRING” drew inspiration from classical and pop genres, offering a distinctive blend of influences.

Both recordings embraced a "musique de chambre" style of jazz, creating a chamber music-like atmosphere. Interestingly, they resonated with a wide range of listeners, including those who typically don't gravitate towards jazz. This accessibility and appeal to diverse audiences have been particularly rewarding.
